Johor: The Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is intensifying its enforcement efforts to tackle the smuggling and misappropriation of subsidised RON95 petrol. The measures include undercover operations at 31 petrol stations near the state's border.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor KPDN director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo stated that these stations are located in city areas and Iskandar Puteri, where static monitoring is being conducted. The enhanced monitoring involves static and undercover operations at high-risk stations. The public is encouraged to report concerns through various channels including WhatsApp, the KPDN Ez ADU application, and a dedicated call centre.
In Kota Kinabalu, a diesel misappropriation tactic was discovered by the Beaufort Branch KPDN. During Ops Tiris 4.0, a four-wheel drive vehicle with a modified tank was caught with approximately 200 litres of diesel. The branch's enforcement head, Julie Julhani, indicated that the vehicle and diesel were seized for further investigation under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. The driver and the petrol station involved are under scrutiny.
In Perak, state KPDN officials seized 94 drums of LPG and 270 litres of petrol in Gerik. The operation followed a public complaint about transactions of controlled goods without proper licensing. During the raid, two individuals failed to present authorization documents for trading these goods.
