Johor Polls: Guna Balakrishnan Steps Up Final Campaign Push In Layang-layang

Layang-layang: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Layang-Layang state seat, Guna Balakrishnan, has intensified his campaign efforts to cover the remaining 20 per cent of the constituency that has yet to be visited, with only five days left before the Johor state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Guna said the campaign machinery had so far covered nearly 80 per cent of the constituency, and campaign efforts would be stepped up to the maximum to ensure the remaining 20 per cent was reached. He emphasized the necessity of increasing his campaign efforts to reach every voter in the constituency and persuade them to support PH.

He identified the main challenge in the final stretch of the campaign as convincing voters to support PH in bringing about change in the country's governance. Guna urged voters to make a wise choice by backing the PH candidate, highlighting the coalition's track record of delivering positive changes for the country's development.

Guna unveiled his manifesto for the Layang-Layang state constituency, which includes addressing flood issues, upgrading roads and street lighting, and improving digital access and internet connectivity. He also pledged support for women's entrepreneurship programmes, expansion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities for youths, and enhanced welfare for senior citizens via a senior citizen activity centre (PAWE).

Residents have responded positively to Guna's manifesto. Trader Tan Ah Kiat praised Guna for addressing critical issues such as flood mitigation and infrastructure improvements. R. Kalaiselvan appreciated the focus on human capital development, particularly initiatives for TVET and women's entrepreneurship.

The Layang-Layang state constituency, with 25,181 registered voters, is witnessing a three-cornered contest involving Guna, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Chua Jian Boon, and the incumbent, Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim, representing Perikatan Nasional (PN).
