Jakarta:Johor The Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) will provide daily updates regarding school closures due to ongoing haze conditions, despite a recent announcement from the state government extending the closures for five days.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali, the State Education and Information Committee chairman, emphasized that these daily notifications are necessary administrative measures aligned with the Ministry of Education's protocols. He clarified that these updates do not conflict with the state's earlier closure announcement.
Dr. Naqib underscored the importance of prioritizing student safety and well-being during this period. This comes after several parents expressed concerns and sought clarification about the extended school closures in Johor via social media.
The JPNJ previously announced that all schools would remain closed on October 12, while the state government had extended this closure to October 16, following initial closures on October 8 and 9. To ensure uninterrupted learning, Home-based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) will continue during the closure period.
The decision on whether students at fully residential schools should return home will be made by the school principals, considering current risk assessments and the safety of students. In addition, the Year 4 Learning Matrix (MPT4) and related assessments will be postponed and rescheduled according to directives from the Examination Syndicate and JPNJ.
The Specific School Admission Assessment (PKSK), originally scheduled for October 12, has also been postponed, with a new date to be announced. JPNJ instructed schools and PKSK centers to notify parents, guardians, and candidates about these changes and mentioned that teachers and officers involved are not required to be present during the assessments.
