Pontian:The Johor state government is set to offer psychosocial support to assist the family of three siblings who tragically lost their lives in a traffic accident in Kampung Parit Haji Siraj, Kayu Ara Pasong.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Education and Information Committee chairman Dr. Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali announced that the support would extend to the community at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Parit Sapran, where the siblings attended school. Guidance and counselling teachers from the school, along with the Pontian District Education Office and the Johor State Education Department, are preparing to provide emotional support and necessary interventions.
Dr. Muhammad Naqib emphasized the importance of respecting the privacy of the grieving family and advised against spreading unverified information or engaging in speculation. He also called on the community to follow official announcements from authorities and take necessary precautions.
The accident occurred when the three siblings, aged eight, 11, and 18, were on a Honda motorcycle that collided with a Hino lorry on Jalan Kampung Parit Haji Siraj, Kayu Ara Pasong, at approximately 7:20 am. The 18-year-old motorcyclist was traveling with his younger siblings when they collided with the oncoming lorry. The motorcyclist succumbed to injuries at Pontian Hospital, while the two younger siblings died at the scene.
Pontian police chief Supt Hadzrat Hussein Mion Hussain reported that the lorry driver, aged 69, sustained injuries to his hands and knees and has received medical treatment. The incident is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with the involved vehicles being impounded.
