Perak to Enhance Women-Centric Initiatives in Muallim

Kuala Lampur:The state government is set to increase its focus on women-centric programs and initiatives in the Muallim district, following its record of having the highest female population in Malaysia, as per the Department of Statistics Malaysia's Current Population Estimates by Administrative Districts.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Salbiah Mohamed, the chairman of the Perak Women, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee, stated that the latest data provides a crucial foundation for the state government to develop approaches that are more inclusive and specifically targeted towards this demographic.

Datuk Salbiah expressed that the findings were unexpected since analyses usually focus on the elderly population. However, the new data reveals that Muallim has the highest female population in both Perak and the nation.

She emphasized the importance of implementing specific measures to ensure that this demographic benefits from state government policies and planning. Her remarks were made at a press conference during the launch of the state-level Disabled Persons Awareness Month 2026 at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia reported that 14 districts have a female population exceeding that of males. Muallim district displayed the most significant disparity, with a ratio of 92 men for every 100 women, followed by Bachok in Kelantan and Samarahan in Sarawak, both with a ratio of 94 men for every 100 women.
