JPJ Seizes Mercedes-Benz During Ops Luxury In Langkawi

Langkawi: The Kedah Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized a Mercedes-Benz vehicle used by a Bangladeshi man during Ops Luxury around Jalan Padang Matsirat, Langkawi, yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kedah JPJ director Stien Van Lutam stated that the 38-year-old man, employed as a vegetable farmer, had been using the vehicle since May 27, 2025. The man was detained while he was in the process of transporting vegetables intended for sale to a third party at a wet market located in Padang Matsirat. During the questioning, the man asserted ownership of the vehicle but refrained from revealing the actual purchase price.

Inspections conducted by the authorities uncovered several serious violations. The man was found to be without a valid driving licence, and it was revealed that the motor vehicle licence (LKM) had expired. Furthermore, the vehicle lacked insurance coverage, which had lapsed on July 26. Consequently, the vehicle was seized by the authorities.

Kedah JPJ emphasized the importance of adherence to legal requirements, reminding the public that ownership of a luxury vehicle does not provide immunity from the law. All drivers and vehicles on the road are mandated to comply with the established regulations.
