Kuala lumpur: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will step up enforcement against participants of motorcycle gathering programmes, including RXZ Members, and will hold engagement sessions with the organisers amid recurring accidents frequently linked to such events. JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasized that while the department does not prohibit the organisation of motoring programmes, all participants must adhere to traffic laws and vehicle technical regulations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that JPJ had previously advised organisers and participants to ensure their vehicles are in safe condition and comply with all regulations during their journey to the event location and throughout the programme. He clarified, "We are not stopping such events as long as regulations are followed. If they are not, we will take action without compromise, especially against vehicle modification offences and violations of the law." These remarks were made to reporters after the launch of the MADANI Adopted Village and Adopted School programme.
He further explained that investigations into accidents involving programme participants fall under the responsibility of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and JPJ will carry out appropriate follow-up actions to prevent overlapping enforcement under the Road Transport Act. Public safety remains the department's top priority, and there will be no compromise against participants who endanger other road users.
The department has also acknowledged public complaints about traffic congestion and the reckless behavior of certain participants, which poses a threat to road users' safety. In response, JPJ aims to address these issues through enhanced enforcement and stakeholder engagement.
Meanwhile, addressing disruptions and issues related to the MyJPJ application, Aedy Fadly noted that the app currently boasts nearly 15 million registered users, making it one of the most widely used government applications. He assured that technical issues are normal for a large-scale application, but JPJ is continuously improving it, with several new features and technologies set to be introduced in the MyJPJ app this September. Users are encouraged to report any problems they encounter while using the application.
