Shah alam: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will summon the top management of KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) soon, following various road safety issues involving the company's garbage trucks.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that the meeting aims to remind KDEBWM that their vehicles must comply with traffic laws and safety regulations before operating on the road.

Aedy Fadly revealed that last Monday, JPJ discussed KDEBWM vehicles with Transport Minister Anthony Loke, and stern actions have already been initiated. The department has seized 22 garbage trucks belonging to the company, which committed 154 offences, including operating without insurance and motor vehicle licenses, as well as being driven by foreign nationals without valid driving licenses.

He mentioned these details during a press conference held in conjunction with JPJ Selangor's Special Operation at the Banting Enforcement Station last night. Aedy Fadly urged KDEBWM to take immediate corrective action to address the violations committed by its garbage trucks, especially those operating on public roads.

Furthermore, Aedy Fadly has directed JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan to deploy enforcement teams from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to detain and seize any problematic KDEBWM garbage trucks.

In addition, Aedy Fadly commended KDEBWM for settling 22,017 outstanding summonses amounting to RM3.1 million in compound payments. However, he noted that repeated offences are still being committed by some contractors under the company.
