JPNS Intensifies Oversight of Mountain Guides in Negeri Sembilan

Negeri sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan Forestry Department (JPNS) is actively engaged in monitoring all registered forestry mountain guides within the state to ensure that climber safety and guiding service quality remain at optimal levels.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department's director, Hamidi Abd Halim, emphasized that each mountain guide is required to undergo a training course and renew their licenses annually to uphold their skills and professionalism. "All registered mountain guides should know their responsibilities and roles before, during, and after climbing," he stated. Since August, 77 mountain guides have been registered in the state, all of whom have completed the necessary training course.

Hamidi further reported that the current situation in Negeri Sembilan is satisfactory, with no licenses revoked and no reported violations of climbing regulations. He shared these insights with reporters after commencing the Angsi Forest Challenge (AFC) 2025 at Ulu Bendul Eco Forest Park.

Negeri Sembilan boasts 14 climbing tracks, a number deliberately kept limited to prevent environmental degradation and to simplify regulatory oversight. Meanwhile, the AFC 2025 programme, spanning two days until tomorrow, has attracted 900 participants, including international entrants from Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Canada. This event is part of the preparations for the Visit Negeri Sembilan Year (VNSY) 2026.
