Kuala lumpur: The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) anticipates the possibility of floods occurring in several low-lying and at-risk areas across Kelantan following the continuous rain warning (alert-level) issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department yesterday. The department's National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) in a statement said the forecast was for today until this Sunday, with close monitoring being carried out at all major river basins.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, areas at risk encompass 10 districts involving the river basins of Sungai Kelantan, Sungai Golok, and Sungai Semerak and their tributaries. The statement added that the floods could occur earlier or later than forecast depending on the rainfall intensity.
