Kuala Lumpur: The construction of the Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Expressway (KBKK) in Kelantan is now 80 per cent completed and is set to be fully ready by 2027, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. He expressed optimism that the remaining 20 per cent of the project, which has been assigned to a newly appointed contractor, would be finished within the stipulated timeline.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Works Ministry (KKR) is confident that the KBKK will meet its 2027 completion target. The minister acknowledged the challenges posed by Kelantan's monsoon-prone climate but assured that necessary measures are in place to address these factors. Nanta's comments came in response to concerns raised on social media about the project's progress.
Nanta emphasized the importance of prompt action by local authorities and state governments in repairing damaged roads to prevent public safety issues. He highlighted the role of the Public Works Department (JKR) in ensuring federal road repairs are completed within 24 hours of receiving a complaint, facilitated by the MyJalan app launched on August 2, 2023.
The minister made these remarks during the opening of the 2025 Comprehensive Asset Management Seminar. The event was attended by notable figures including Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, KKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Azman Ibrahim, and Director-General of Works Datuk Roslan Ismail.
