Negeri sembilan: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) aims to have 4.5 million youths participate in the national-level National Youth Day celebrations on May 15. Its minister, Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, announced that the celebrations, themed 'Mobilising Youths,' will take place at X-Park Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan from May 15 to 17.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Mohammed emphasized the goal of nurturing 4.5 million leaders imbued with patriotic spirit and a sense of responsibility towards Malaysia. He made these remarks at a media conference following the prelaunch of the celebrations, attended by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol, KBS secretary-general Datuk Rahimi Ismail, National Youth and Sports Department director-general Azura Abidin, and Malaysian Youth Council deputy president Mohamed Khairul Azman Abdul Azeez.
Dr. Mohammed outlined five major segments of this year's celebrations: invention and job opportunities, leadership, volunteerism and internationalisation, active Malaysia, innovation and digital, as well as culture, arts, and music. He noted that this year's theme demonstrates the government's commitment, particularly his ministry's, to empower young people as agents of change and key decision-makers for the country's future.
He emphasized the importance of the platform in enhancing the youth development ecosystem comprehensively, recognizing the young generation as a vital national asset. The government, he assured, is dedicated to continuing its efforts to empower youth as a primary agenda.
The 2026 National Youth Day celebrations will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 15.
