Kuala Lampur:The Ministry of Youth and Sports is hopeful that the 2027 Budget, set to be presented tomorrow, will provide beneficial outcomes for the national sports community, including athletes and coaches, while enhancing the sports ecosystem's development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mohamed Taufiq Johari, expressed expectations that the budget allocation will bolster national sports development and prioritize athlete welfare, both during their active careers and post-retirement.
He emphasized the importance of the budget bringing favorable news for the entire sports community, which would allow continued progress and international recognition for Malaysia. He also highlighted the significance of ensuring athletes' well-being beyond their active years.
Speaking on the *Bernama Radio Fokus 30* program, attended by the Malaysian National News Agency's chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, Mohamed Taufiq also noted the ministry's focus on youth development. This includes support for young people not engaged in employment, education, or training (NEET), along with vulnerable youth groups.
When questioned about additional funding requests for hosting the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia, Mohamed Taufiq indicated that details would be revealed during the Budget presentation. He assured that KBS is committed to organizing a successful and memorable edition of the games.
