KEDA Distributes RM20.11 Million in Grants to Boost Kedah Entrepreneurs

Kuala Lumpur:Kedah A total of 1,172 entrepreneurs in Kedah have received RM20.11 million in grant assistance from the Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) from 2023 to last year. This initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities of entrepreneurs, particularly those in rural areas.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KEDA chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid highlighted the agency's commitment to entrepreneurship development during the KEDA Entrepreneur Appreciation Ceremony. KEDA has allocated an additional RM6.87 million this year for various programs, including training, mentoring, product labelling and promotion, business equipment assistance, and participation in expos and exhibitions.

Mahdzir emphasized that these initiatives are designed to help entrepreneurs enhance their knowledge, skills, branding, and market reach. To support a conducive business environment, KEDA has made 528 business premises available for rent, of which 466 are currently occupied. These include shops, stalls, SME workshops, a commercial premise, industrial land lots, and other units managed by KEDA subsidiaries.

He encouraged rural entrepreneurs to not only sustain their existing operations but also expand and explore new markets. Mahdzir urged them to utilize digital marketing and e-commerce platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Shopee, and Lazada to reach a broader audience at a lower cost.
