Kedah Appreciates Federal Government’s Budget 2026 For Providing Benefits To The State

Alor setar: The Kedah government today expressed its appreciation to the Federal Government for the Budget 2026 allocation announcement, which also provided benefits to the state. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said that several state priority projects were mentioned in the budget tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Dewan Rakyat last month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Sanusi highlighted the Federal Government's commitment to Kedah's development, as demonstrated in the Budget 2026. He mentioned the allocation for the Bukit Kayu Hitam Special Border Economic Zone, with an investment of RM2.7 billion, set to become a growth hub connecting economic, energy, and digital chains of ASEAN.

He also noted the approval of several other projects, including the Sungai Karangan Riverbank Water Retention Pond Project and the Taman Selasih Eco-friendly Drainage Project in Kulim. Additional projects include the Kuala Kedah Waterfront Development and the coastal erosion project at Pantai Leman in Kota Setar, as well as the Sungai Temin and Sungai Bata Flood Mitigation Plans in Kubang Pasu.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Sanusi reported on the success of the Visit Kedah 2025 campaign, themed 'Experience Kedah', which attracted 5.2 million tourists as of October. He stated that Kedah Tourism achieved various accomplishments, with its participation in the World Expo Osaka 2025 promoting Kedah's culture, heritage, and tourism, drawing 162,000 visitors to the Kedah Pavilion.
