Kota bharu: The Kelantan state government plans to launch the 'E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera' Kelantan, a free online tuition program for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, starting next year. The initiative is part of the state government's commitment to fostering outstanding academic performance among SPM students.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Education, Higher Education, Green Technology, Digital, and Innovation Committee Chairman, Datuk Wan Roslan Wan Hamat, announced that the state has already conducted a trial run of this online tuition in partnership with Telekom Malaysia, involving 1,896 students. The program aims to offer comprehensive SPM examination formats across all subjects.

Wan Roslan stated that the trial this year required nearly RM100,000 in funding. Looking ahead, the government plans to enhance the initiative by collaborating with expert educators to offer the online tuition to all SPM candidates in Kelantan at no cost.

He shared these plans while responding to a supplementary question from Nor Asilah Mohamed Zin (PAS-Limbongan) concerning the financial implications and benefits of the 'E-Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera' Kelantan program at the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly meeting in Kompleks Kota Darulnaim.

Further elaborating, Wan Roslan said the decision to offer the tuition for free was inspired by the success of last year's 'Tuisyen Rakyat Sejahtera', which positively impacted SPM student performance. The previous program focused on four core subjects and involved 1,495 students, with an allocation of RM477,000.

SPM results in Kelantan showed improvement, climbing to 95.99 percent in 2024 from 95.08 percent in 2023. This prompted the government to extend the tuition initiative to 2,604 students this year. Future expansions could include tuition for candidates taking the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM), and other examinations, providing more students with access to quality supplementary learning.
