Kelantan: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) of Kelantan is strengthening cooperation with Thai authorities through cross-border information sharing to curb leakages and smuggling of controlled goods, said its director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf. He emphasized that this collaboration is crucial as leakages, particularly involving packet cooking oil and diesel, continue to occur. A more proactive approach through information sharing must support enforcement actions by both countries.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the cooperation involves regular meetings with Thai authorities, who have committed to sharing information on leakages of controlled goods into the country. This includes details on activities in border areas that could aid enforcement actions by both nations. Hanif Yusabra highlighted that this cooperation has been ongoing for a long time and will continue with a new approach. The recent meeting aims to further strengthen the relationship between law enforcement agencies in the border states, especially Kelantan and Sungai Golok.

Additionally, Hanif Yusabra reported that the Kelantan KPDN recorded 742 enforcement cases, with 135 individuals detained to assist in investigations from January 1 to July 31 this year.
