Perak: Kinergy Advancement Bhd's (KAB) wholly owned subsidiary KAB Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd (KABEH) is collaborating with Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) for the development of 29 potential renewable energy (RE) projects in Perak with a total capacity of over 1,800 megawatts (MW).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the energy solution provider and Perak state agency announced in a joint statement their plans to identify, evaluate, and develop RE projects in Perak by leveraging KAB's technical expertise to drive innovative energy developments. This initiative aligns with Perak Sejahtera 2030 Flagship 12: Water Resources and Renewable Energy, aiming to enhance the energy resilience of Perak and contribute to Malaysia's broader national goals of sustainable and renewable energy development.
The statement further highlights that the collaboration supports objectives of increasing water resources efficiency and promoting renewable energy usage, marking a significant step toward achieving Malaysia's long-term sustainability targets. Datuk Lai Keng Onn, KAB's executive deputy chairman and group managing director, emphasized that the partnership allows the group to offer their expertise to drive sustainable development and explore Perak's energy potential, with 50 MW of power generation capacity projects currently in the pipeline.
Datuk Lai Keng Onn remarked that by partnering with PKNPk, the development of sustainable energy infrastructure can be accelerated, strengthening Perak's position as a leader in Malaysia's renewable and clean energy transition. He noted that this collaboration will bring transformative benefits at both the state and national levels, paving the way for a more resilient future.
Meanwhile, PKNPk chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak mentioned the urgent need for firm, flexible, and renewable power solutions and storage to balance supply and demand effectively as the clean energy transition accelerates. He expressed confidence that the partnership, combining KABEH's expertise in RE and PKNPk's strategic role in state development, will unlock Perak's vast hydropower and solar energy potential.
