Kuala lumpur: His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, have extended their best wishes for Vaisakhi and Tamil New Year to the entire Sikh and Tamil communities in the country. The royal couple conveyed their greetings through a post shared on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, His Majesty also expressed his hope that these celebrations will continue to foster unity, harmony, and mutual respect among various races and religions in Malaysia. Sultan Ibrahim emphasized that Malaysia, being a multi-racial, multi-religious, and multi-cultural nation, thrives in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
His Majesty further stated that the nation's prosperity relies heavily on the harmonious coexistence of its people, regardless of their religious or racial backgrounds. He wished for joy, happiness, and prosperity for all who partake in the celebrations this year.
Vaisakhi Day marks the beginning of a new year in the Sikh calendar and is celebrated by the Sikh community, while the Tamil New Year, known as Puthandu, is observed by the Tamil community as the start of a new year in the Tamil calendar.
