Kuala lumpur: Kuala Lumpur police personnel have been urged to adapt to technological advancements, leverage data analytics, and strengthen information sharing to address an increasingly complex security landscape. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said such proactive measures are crucial given the evolving nature of crime, increasingly sophisticated technology, and rising public expectations of policing services.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, every department and district within the Kuala Lumpur Contingent must continuously evaluate the effectiveness of existing strategies to strengthen the force's capabilities in preventing and combating crime. Datuk Fadil Marsus emphasized the need for continuous improvement, urging the force not to be complacent with current achievements but to identify weaknesses, rectify shortcomings, and strengthen areas that yield positive results.

In his address at the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief's Monthly Assembly, Fadil highlighted the importance of prioritizing speed, accuracy, professionalism, and effectiveness in their duties. He stressed that integrity, discipline, and professionalism must remain the fundamental pillars of every task to maintain public confidence in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

On national security, Fadil described the situation as positive, citing Malaysia's improved standing in global indices, including its 12th position in the 2024 Global Peace Index (GPI) and 57th in the 2024 Global Terrorism Index (GTI). He also called on the Kuala Lumpur police personnel to foster esprit de corps and strengthen inter-departmental cooperation to ensure the PDRM's image remains respected both domestically and internationally.

During the assembly, Fadil presented Letters of Appreciation to officers and personnel who had demonstrated outstanding performance. The event also marked the retirement of Kuala Lumpur Police Special Branch chief SAC Datuk Zulkifli Arin, who ended his service after more than 39 years with the force.
