Kuala lumpur: The 2026 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang X JAGO (KMJG X JAGO) programme for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (WPKLP) visited seven key locations in the capital today to foster patriotism.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the convoy comprised 10 vehicles and 35 participants from seven government agencies, namely the Information Department (JAPEN), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM/KLfm), Road Transport Department (JPJ), and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
A key feature of this year's programme was the use of the JAGO (JAPEN Arena Penggerak Komuniti) multi-function vehicle (MFV), which is equipped with a giant LED screen to play patriotic songs throughout the tour.
The convoy began at Taman Sri Sentosa Market in Lembah Pantai, before proceeding to Taman Tasik Metropolitan Kepong, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Market, Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station, Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital, and PETRONAS Cochrane Perkasa, before ending at NZ Curry House in Wangsa Maju.
The closing ceremony at the final stop featured cultural and community activities, including kompang, Indian drum, and Chinese drum performances, as well as the distribution of Jalur Gemilang kits.
Meanwhile, WPKLP JAPEN director Normaizatulakmal Tujad said more than 1,000 people were estimated to have taken part at the various convoy stops, including about 250 at the final location. She mentioned that the programme at the final stop also involved various agencies through exhibitions and community activities, including the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department, the Social Welfare Department (JKM), and the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) for the Setiawangsa parliamentary constituency.
She added that the programme had achieved its objective, judging by the encouraging response from the public, although she acknowledged that some locations and premises had yet to fly the Jalur Gemilang. "Personally, I believe it achieved its objective. Throughout the journey, whenever we met people on the ground, we could see that they were enthusiastic," she told Bernama after the closing ceremony.
Earlier, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil flagged off the convoy at Taman Sri Sentosa Market.
