Kuala lumpur: The 2026 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) X JAGO programme for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya commenced today, aiming to promote patriotism during National Month. Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil announced that the convoy started at Taman Seri Sentosa Market in Lembah Pantai and will visit six locations in the capital today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the convoy will stop at various sites, including Taman Tasik Metropolitan Kepong, Taman Tun Dr Ismail Market, and Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station. It will also visit Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital, Petronas Cochrane Perkasa, and conclude at NZ Curry House Wangsa Maju. Fahmi, also the Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, mentioned that this year's event involves about 35 participants and 10 vehicles from government agencies such as the Information Department (JAPEN), Royal Malaysia Police, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
A key feature of this year's programme is the JAGO (JAPEN Arena Penggerak Komuniti) Multi-Functional Vehicle, equipped with a giant LED screen to play patriotic songs. Fahmi stated that the programme serves as a platform for community engagement through activities that encourage local participation. At each stop, 1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang kits will be distributed, along with Jalur Gemilang flags, cultural performances, and civic quizzes.
Earlier, Fahmi presented Jalur Gemilang kits to Taman Seri Sentosa MADANI Community head Mohammad Sarizal Mohd Ali and distributed flags to visitors for the 1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang campaign, coinciding with the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. Organised by the Information Department of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (WPKLP), the programme is an outreach initiative promoting the practice of flying the Jalur Gemilang as a symbol of unity and pride.
The closing ceremony at NZ Curry House in Wangsa Maju will be officiated by WPKLP Information Department director Normaizatulakmal Tujad and attended by Setiawangsa Zone Federal Territory Residents' Representative Council chairman Datuk Afdlin Shauki Aksan. Various cultural activities, including performances of kompang, Indian drum, and Chinese drum, as well as the presentation of Jalur Gemilang kits and a PENTARAMA @JAGO performance, are scheduled for the event.
