Panji: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has applied for an increase in its number of officers and members to enhance the enforcement of the government's new policies.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, According to KPDN's deputy director-general (Enforcement) Aris Mamat, the department currently faces limitations with its existing enforcement personnel.
"Last year, we added more than 200 members and officers nationwide, and this year we are also applying for more. The recruitment of these members and officers is usually determined by the Public Service Department (JPA)," Aris stated during the opening ceremony of the Inter-Agency Sports Championship to Strengthen Synergy at the Sports and Youth Complex.
Aris further explained that the increase in personnel is subject to a warrant (quota) and its distribution, which will be decided by the JPA. "We are applying, but the decision (total) depends on the JPA and currently we have a total of 2,300 officers and members nationwide. We need this increase in officers and members for effectiveness at all levels because we have 13 acts that require more members to assist the government, especially in terms of control when the government makes new policies," he explained.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with other agencies to prevent the leakage of controlled substances. "Without the cooperation from various agencies, it is impossible for us to curb illegal activities," he added.
