KPKT Approves Major MyKiosk Expansion to Benefit Over 7,000 Families Nationwide.

SUBANG JAYA: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), through the Department of Local Government (JKT), has approved the construction of 7,243 MyKiosk units across 133 local authorities nationwide within the next two years. This initiative aims to assist over 7,000 families by improving their income and enhancing the socio-economic conditions of local communities. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Nga Kor Ming highlighted the success of the MyKiosk initiative, noting that some businesses operating from these kiosks have reported monthly earnings of up to RM30,000. The initiative has positively impacted over 35,000 Malaysians in just two years, transforming the economic prospects of numerous families. Nga announced a significant government allocation for the project, with RM100 million set for this year to build 4,054 kiosks across 93 local authorities, following a RM50 million investment last year for the construction of 3,189 units. In Subang Jaya, the City Council (MBSJ) has received 12 MyKiosk units, distributed to traders at the Roundabout@Putra Heights Business Area, part of an initiative to revitalize an abandoned green space into a thriving local business hub. Each MyKiosk 2.0 unit will feature 1,000-watt solar power, fans, and LED lighting to ensure a comfortable trading environment. Traders will initially benefit from six months of free rent, followed by a nominal daily charge. In Subang Jaya, the City Council, led by Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim, has generously reduced this fee to RM2 per day for traders in the area. The JKT is conducting a study on the MyKiosk initiative, with plans to propose an enhanced MyKiosk 3.0 version to the Ministry of Finance next year.
