KPPK MAIPk – A Landmark Of Malay Heritage

Ipoh: A total of RM74.67 million has been allocated for the construction of the Perak Islamic and Malay Customs and Religious Council (MAIPk) Administrative Complex and Commercial Centre (KPPK), which is scheduled for completion in April 2028. MAIPk president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini said the six-storey complex will feature two basement levels with 314 car parking bays and 70 motorcycle spaces. The building will also house office facilities, commercial areas, and a dedicated floor for the Heritage Gallery.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIPk envisions KPPK not only as a modern administrative hub, but also as a heritage landmark that embodies the identity of the Perak Malay community. Tan Sri Mohd Annuar highlighted that the project reflects a commitment to preserving Malay architectural heritage while addressing the demands of contemporary administration. This was stated at the Doa Selamat and Groundbreaking Ceremony for the KPPK MAIPk project by Perak Mufti Datuk Seri Wan Zahidi Wan Teh.

Mohd Annuar explained that the project draws inspiration from the motifs of traditional Perak houses, particularly the iconic Kutai House, as part of efforts to uphold heritage values that are increasingly being overlooked amid modern development. Among the key features of the complex is its distinctive five-tiered roof, synonymous with the design of traditional Perak houses. The building will also showcase intricate wood carvings on its pillars, ceilings, and windows, reflecting the craftsmanship of the Malay community.

In addition to these features, the design incorporates traditional window elements with solar shades that function as light and heat control, alongside the use of authentic materials to preserve the heritage aesthetic. Mohd Annuar emphasized that the development of KPPK represents a new benchmark in blending traditional values with modern functionality, while advancing the agenda of preserving Malay culture and heritage.

He stated that the complex will not only function as an administrative centre but is also planned to be one of the tourist, educational, and historical attractions for generations.
