KTMB Launches Abms To Strengthen Corporate Governance And Integrity

Kuala lumpur: In a bid to strengthen corporate governance, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has launched an Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) that meets the MS ISO 37001:2016 standard, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KTMB Chief Technical Officer Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin stated that the company had completed five phases of ABMS implementation. These phases include the awareness phase, understanding standard requirements, risk assessment and documentation, development of ABMS documentation, and audit and management review.

KTMB underwent an internal audit in May 2025 and subsequently achieved full ABMS certification on October 29, 2025. Ahmad Nizam emphasized that this accomplishment aligns with the government's efforts to encourage the phased implementation of ABMS across all government agencies.

The ABMS launch ceremony was officiated by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman, who also presented the KTMB Integrity Kit to the senior regional managers.

Ahmad Nizam noted that the kit serves as a comprehensive guide to strengthen a culture of integrity and governance at all levels of the organization. It covers policy references, compliance guidelines, and best practices in preventing corruption at KTMB.

Additionally, the programme featured an integrity forum titled 'Mulia Kerana Maruah, Musnah Kerana Rasuah.' The forum was moderated by Rasuah Busters chief executive officer Nurhayati Nordin, with panel members including Mydin managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin, National Anti-Financial Crime Centre director-general Datuk Seri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil, and Bukit Aman Standard Compliance Department deputy director (Religion and Counselling) Datuk Azhan Abdul Halim.
