Kuala perlis: The 2026 Kuala Perlis International Water Festival attracted more than 55,000 visitors over its two-day duration, providing positive economic impacts on the local economy. Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah highlighted that local businesses, including eateries, homestays, hotels, and guesthouses, experienced significant benefits as a result of the festival's success.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abu Bakar stated that the festival's achievement was evident in the full occupancy of various business premises. He expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, noting that the festival had successfully filled local accommodations and dining establishments.

The festival also saw participation from 19 villages in various competitions, such as village beautification activities, showcasing the community's collective effort to ensure the event's success. Abu Bakar emphasized the importance of community spirit, stating that the unity displayed by the local residents would continue to be a focal point in future events.

Looking ahead, Abu Bakar announced that the water festival would be held again next year with several enhancements. There will be a particular focus on the village beautification competition, which has been recognized for its potential in fostering community unity and attracting visitors from outside the area.
