Genting highlands: The Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) 2026 Charity Golf event is paving the way for potential long-term collaborations with AEI Capital Group and Yayasan Sayang Malaysia, valued at an estimated RM60 million.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, UMK Vice-Chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Arham Abdullah stated that the collaboration proposals aim to enhance education, talent development, industrial training, career opportunities, and entrepreneurship for UMK's students and alumni. The proposal suggests dedicating up to RM10 million over a decade for student education and talent development programs.
Dr. Arham highlighted that the proposed initiatives include the AEI Scholarship for First Class-performing undergraduate students, the AEI-UMK Academic Excellence Award, and various programs for industrial training, mentoring, leadership, and career development. These initiatives were discussed during the UMK 2026 Charity Golf event at the Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort.
Additionally, the proposal includes up to RM50 million as growth capital for companies founded by UMK alumni in the growth stage. This is part of the AEI-UMK Growth Capital Initiative, which seeks to provide access to capital, industrial networks, investors, and strategic partners to help these companies expand their operations, markets, and technology, as well as explore international opportunities.
Dr. Arham emphasized that the charity golf event serves not only to raise funds for student welfare but also as a platform to strengthen relationships between the university, industry partners, alumni, and non-governmental organizations. This initiative aims to create strategic networks supporting student welfare and development.
The proposal further includes the "UMK-to-Enterprise Growth Pipeline" concept, which links education and academic excellence with industrial training, entrepreneurship, and growth capital access for qualifying alumni companies. However, UMK clarified that the RM60 million figure represents potential long-term collaboration value, not the sponsorship value of the charity golf event.
The event was graced by the presence of the Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, who is also the UMK Pro-Chancellor and Patron of the UMK 2026 Charity Golf. He participated in the program and joined participants for a round of golf at the picturesque course.
