KUIM 1.0 Highlights Role of Religious Scholars in Promoting Unity

Kuala terengganu: The Malaysian-Terengganu Ulama and Intellectuals Congress 1.0 (KUIM) underscored the significant role of religious scholars and intellectuals in fostering societal unity amidst political differences. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, emphasized that politics should serve as a unifying platform rather than a source of division.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na'im articulated the importance of maintaining political decorum and respect for differing opinions. He highlighted that while political diversity is acceptable, the key is in the management of party affairs to ensure that political entities become tools for societal cohesion, particularly in Malaysia.

Furthermore, Mohd Na'im pointed out the vital connection between politics and Islamic values, advocating for developmental politics infused with Islamic principles. He stressed that Islam's foundational values are crucial and that they complement economic development by fostering a community with strong morals and character.

In his address, Mohd Na'im announced that religious agencies such as the Malaysian Islamic Propagation Foundation (YADIM) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will collaborate with the congress organizers and the Deputy Prime Minister's office. This collaboration aims to implement the resolutions formulated at the congress, with a focus on achieving a MADANI nation and society.

Mohd Na'im also remarked on the significance of the presentations and discussions at the congress, which he believes will enrich perspectives and provide valuable insights for all participants.
