Kulim: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has extended his condolences to the families of four children who drowned in Sungai Karangan in Kulim, Kedah yesterday. He described the tragedy as heartbreaking and one that would leave a deep impact on the victims' families.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution noted that more heartbreaking is that two of the victims were siblings, and their father is an employee of the Kuala Muda District National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK). He mentioned this in a Facebook post today.

An officer representing Saifuddin visited the victims' families last night to offer assistance to help ease their burden. Along with staff from the Home Ministry, he also prayed for the families to be granted strength and fortitude in facing the ordeal.

'There are no words to describe the pain of losing a child, especially under such unexpected circumstances. May Allah SWT grant strength to the families in facing this difficult ordeal, and place these four children in His mercy and love,' Saifuddin expressed.

The victims, Muhamad Aeril Aziz Muhamad Zafis, 12, his step-brother Muhammad Arif Naufan Abdullah, 8, and their friends Muhammad Zafril Arsyad Muhamad Azrin, 12, and Muhammad Iman Nuruddin Khairol Anuar, 10, died after they were believed to have fallen into a drain at the housing area while trying to retrieve a ball yesterday afternoon.
