KUSKOP’s SDSI Targets RM4 Million In Transaction Value

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) is targeting RM4 million in transaction value for the five-day One District One Industry (SDSI) showcase at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick stated that RM3 million is aimed to be generated from PADANIAGA business matching activities, while an additional RM1 million is expected from the entrepreneur financing initiative at the national-level event. The programme, which began on July 30, is being held alongside the Felda Settlers' Day celebration and the Rural Entrepreneurs Carnival (KUD) as part of the Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D). The carnival is anticipated to attract two million visitors, potentially doubling the sales for SDSI entrepreneurs.

Ewon highlighted that this marks the first collaboration between KUSKOP, the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), and Felda in organizing three large-scale national programmes concurrently. This approach aims to create a greater synergy, particularly in terms of its impact on SDSI entrepreneurs. The SDSI showcase is an initiative by KUSKOP to foster a more inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem for SDSI enterprises and local entrepreneurs.

The programme serves as a commercialisation platform through exhibitions and product sales that showcase each district's identity, covering food and beverage clusters, health products and services, handicrafts, and homestays. Additionally, Ewon mentioned that the MK3D carnival aims to bridge the gap between the government and the public, aligning with the aspirations of the MADANI government to ensure all initiatives are understood and appreciated by the rakyat.

He encouraged the public to attend the carnival, which is open from 10 am to 10 pm daily at MITEC until Sunday, to take advantage of the opportunities and initiatives offered. A total of 154 entrepreneurs from across the nation are participating in the SDSI showcase, aiming to raise public awareness about the quality and potential of SDSI products.

Fourteen state pavilions, each hosting 10 entrepreneurs from different states, have been established in Hall 5, Level 2 of MITEC, with an additional 14 entrepreneurs under the KKDW pavilion. Key highlights include the Citarasa Desa (Flavours of the Village) programme, SDSI forum, business matching sessions, and entrepreneur financing programme. Supporting activities such as entrepreneurship talks, pocket talks, and product demonstrations were also organised.
