Labuan: Six Filipino undocumented migrants were detained during two separate immigration operations on November 12. Labuan Immigration director Raymond Entalai reported that the operations, named Op Dandan and Op Gegar, were conducted around the town center from 8 pm to 11 pm following intelligence gathering and surveillance by the department.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the enforcement team, led by Fatrick James and supported by six officers of various ranks from the Enforcement Division of the Labuan Immigration Department, conducted checks on several business premises, including massage parlors suspected of employing undocumented workers. During the joint operation, 17 individuals - eight Malaysians and nine Filipinos - were inspected, resulting in the detention of six Filipino nationals who failed to produce valid documents or passes and were allegedly working without proper permits in Labuan.
Raymond Entalai stated that all those detained have been placed at the Labuan Police Headquarters and the Labuan Immigration Depot. Additionally, two summonses were issued to witnesses to assist in the investigation. He warned that legal action would be taken against those who harbor illegal immigrants and urged the public to assist the department in its ongoing enforcement efforts.
