LINDUNG Scheme Contributors to Receive Tax Relief Under Budget 2027

Accra:Contributors to the LINDUNG 24 Jam and LINDUNG Kendiri schemes will be eligible for up to RM150 in additional tax relief as part of Budget 2027.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) announced that this initiative is set to benefit over 8.5 million LINDUNG 24 Jam contributors and 1.7 million LINDUNG Kendiri contributors. The LINDUNG 24 Jam Scheme, which recorded 10,424 claims in its initial four months, emphasizes protection against risks beyond working hours.

The initiative aims to encourage more participants to obtain coverage under LINDUNG 24 Jam and increase involvement in LINDUNG Kendiri. E-hailing and p-hailing workers will receive a 35% matching contribution from PERKESO, rising to 50% if platform companies also contribute. Additionally, a 70% matching contribution incentive will be offered to over 200,000 self-employed individuals in 17 non-mandatory sectors.

PERKESO will ensure that systems are ready for self-employed individuals to benefit from these incentives. More than 40,000 religious functionaries will also receive PERKESO coverage funded by Lembaga Tabung Haji. Furthermore, health screening vouchers will be provided to commercial heavy vehicle drivers aged 40 and above under the Safe and Healthy Driver programme to help detect health issues early and reduce driving risks.
