Lorry Driver Claims Microsleep Led to Crash with Journalists in Menglembu

Menglembu:The lorry driver involved in an accident with two journalists in Menglembu last Sunday claims that a microsleep caused the crash, according to local police.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin stated that the investigation is ongoing. The 35-year-old lorry driver involved in the incident tested negative for drugs and has no criminal record. Despite his claims of microsleep, the police emphasized that hitting the vehicle from behind constitutes an offence, and appropriate action will be taken.

The collision occurred at approximately 5.45 am, injuring two journalists, Nur Afiradina Arshad of the Malaysian National News Agency and Zahratulhayat Mat Arif of The New Straits Times. They were travelling in a Perodua Bezza to Bagan Datuk to cover an event involving Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
