Kuala lumpur: The loud booms that echoed through Sungai Petani today were confirmed to be part of a training exercise conducted by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), as clarified by Kuala Muda District Police Chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the police fielded numerous complaints and inquiries from residents who reported hearing explosion-like noises between 9 am and 10 am. ACP Hanyan Ramlan assured the public that the sounds originated from the ATM base and emphasized that the training was under control.
He urged the public to remain calm and advised against making unverified speculations, particularly on social media platforms, to prevent confusion and public anxiety. ACP Hanyan Ramlan also informed that similar sounds are expected tomorrow between 10 am and noon as the ATM exercise continues.
