Kuala lumpur: Malaysia, as Chair of ASEAN 2025, has led the regional bloc with confidence through a time of global change, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. In a post on his official Facebook page today, he said Malaysia had revitalised dialogue, built new bridges, and demonstrated that the ASEAN spirit remains vibrant-guided by wisdom, reason, and a shared sense of purpose under the banner of unity and peace.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 47th ASEAN Summit concluded Malaysia's Chairmanship with historic milestones achieved in Kuala Lumpur, from the KL Peace Accord between Cambodia and Thailand to the signing of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0. Anwar also shared a video highlighting the summit's key moments.
He emphasized that ASEAN's true strength lies in the loyalty, inclusivity, and mutual trust among its member states. As the chairmanship is handed over to the Philippines, Malaysia reflects on its journey with gratitude. Anwar acknowledged that not all deadlocks have been resolved, but every bold step has helped shape history towards hope and justice.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to Malaysians for their patience and hospitality towards regional partners throughout the year, stating, 'The world has witnessed it, this is the real Malaysia!'
The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, which concluded on Oct 28 after three days, also recorded several key achievements, including the formal admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN's 11th member state.
