Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) welcomed the Denmark Parliament Ombudsman's interest in establishing cooperation and sharing expertise to enhance the agency's capacity in corruption prevention and governance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ombudsman Christian Britten Lundblad expressed his and his team's readiness to share the philosophy, experiences, and ideas behind the ombudsman concept as practiced worldwide. Lundblad, a former President of the Frederiksberg Court in Denmark, highlighted the Ombudsman's role in handling complaints, recommending improvements, and promoting transparency. He emphasized that the institution also focuses on implementing preventive measures against corruption.
Lundblad made these remarks during a courtesy visit to MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya at the commission's headquarters. Ahmad Khusairi noted that Denmark's strong governance mechanisms, robust integrity framework, and the Ombudsman's role could serve as a reference for strengthening Malaysia's public administration accountability and integrity. The meeting underscored the importance of transparency, enforcement improvements, and governance reforms.
The visit was attended by several senior MACC officials, including Policy, Planning and Research director Datuk Rasidah Abdul Karim, National Governance Planning Division deputy director Mohd Gunawan Che Ab Aziz, Denmark's Ambassador to Malaysia H.E. Kristine Vangkilde Berner, and representatives from the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Danish government.
