MACC Remands Officer in Bribery Case at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Shah alam: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Selangor has detained an enforcement officer suspected of receiving approximately RM8,000 in bribes while on duty at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) arrival counter.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the remand order for five days, lasting until July 29, was sanctioned by Magistrate Zur Azureen Zainalkefli after MACC's request at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court earlier today. The male suspect, in his 20s, was apprehended at 3 pm yesterday at his workplace.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly received the bribe while performing his duties, with the act being detected through closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance. Upon inspection, authorities discovered about RM8,000 in cash in his pants pocket, which is presumed to be proceeds from counter setting activities.

Selangor MACC deputy director Khairul Izwan Karim confirmed the arrest when contacted. The case is currently being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
