MACC Suggests Governance Enhancements for Felda and Subsidiaries

Kuala Lumpur:The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has proposed a series of governance improvements for the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and its subsidiaries, FIC Supplies Sdn Bhd and FIC Integrated Property Management (FIC IPM), to better manage two specific projects.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these recommendations come from MACC's Governance Investigation Division (BPT) and aim to boost governance in the Agro Park (Commercial) Project and the Cattle Trading Pilot Project.

One key recommendation is restructuring FIC IPM's role as an independent advisory panel to ensure that advice is objective, transparent, and free from conflicts of interest. Additionally, Felda is advised to enhance procurement and transaction management by establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for procurement methods involving requests for proposals (RFP) and variation orders.

The MACC emphasized the importance of these measures to ensure processes are conducted systematically and transparently, adhering to established regulations and internal controls. Further recommendations include strengthening controls in FIC Supplies' sales and purchase activities.

Presented by MACC BPT deputy director I Maznah Che Muda at Menara Felda, the proposals have been welcomed by Felda and its subsidiaries. They expressed a commitment to implementing the recommendations gradually to reinforce governance, transparency, and integrity.

The agreement was formalized through the Governance Improvement Report, signed by Felda's deputy director-general (Corporate Services) Muhammad Fitri Othman, FIC Group CEO Syed Fadil Syed Sofi, and MACC BPT director Datuk Mohd Zaki Hassan.
