SpaceX Donates Starlink Kits to Enhance Malaysia’s Disaster Preparedness

Putrajaya:SpaceX has donated 50 Starlink kits to Malaysia to support disaster preparedness, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the donation was presented by a SpaceX delegation during a meeting with Anwar at the Perdana Putra Building in Putrajaya. The meeting, which was also attended by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, focused on strengthening strategic cooperation through Starlink, particularly to improve network access in rural areas.

Anwar expressed appreciation for Starlink's contribution to the government's efforts in enhancing internet coverage and quality through the National Digital Network (JENDELA), specifically in rural regions of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as in Orang Asli settlements in the Peninsula.

He also welcomed the establishment of Starlink's Point of Presence infrastructure in Cyberjaya, aimed at improving data traffic and service quality for local users.

Anwar emphasized that technological advancements must yield tangible benefits for the public while ensuring cybersecurity, data protection, and safe internet usage remain priorities as internet access expands.

He added that the goal is to provide quality and secure internet access to rural communities to ensure they are not left behind in the country's progress.
