Macquarie Eyes Investments In Malaysia, Says Tengku Zafrul

Kuala lumpur: Global fund manager Macquarie Asset Management has expressed interest in investing across various sectors in Malaysia, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said. He emphasized that Macquarie, one of the world's leading investors, sees strong potential in areas such as infrastructure and renewable energy, aligning with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tengku Zafrul highlighted that Macquarie's interest underscores Malaysia's status as a top investment destination, particularly in high-technology and green sectors. He noted that their commitment further strengthens efforts to position Malaysia as a sustainable and competitive regional hub. Tengku Zafrul mentioned having productive discussions with Macquarie on the matter, expressing confidence that such collaborations will drive economic growth and create more quality job opportunities for Malaysians.

Separately, Tengku Zafrul shared that he also met with leading global fund managers, including GIC, UBS, and Manulife IM, at the Invest Malaysia conference organized by Bursa Malaysia and Macquarie in Singapore. The discussions aimed to promote Malaysia as a neutral and resilient investment hub in ASEAN. Tengku Zafrul pointed out key highlights presented at the conference, such as the positive progress of NIMP2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS). He also shared updates on investment inflows, including RM63 billion secured in semiconductor investments, demonstrating investors' confidence in Malaysia's clear policies, which ensure stability for investors.
