Malaysia and Bahrain to Expand Cooperation in Multiple Sectors

Kuala Lumpur:Malaysia is welcoming investment from Bahrain and is prepared to broaden their cooperation across several sectors, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared these details in a post on X, outlining that the collaboration would encompass areas such as healthcare, Islamic finance, technology, tourism, food security, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and smart manufacturing. These discussions took place during his meeting with Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is visiting Malaysia in conjunction with the 2026 Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Anwar emphasized that Malaysia is not only eager to receive Bahraini investment but is also positioning Malaysian companies to use Bahrain as a gateway to access the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) market, aiming to enhance the prosperity and well-being of both nations' citizens.

The meeting also served to address efforts in strengthening Malaysia-Bahrain relations. This includes plans to expedite senior officials' consultations to activate the High-Level Joint Committee and strategically advance their bilateral agenda. Aligning with the MADANI Economy and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, both countries are committed to enhancing cooperation in key areas.

Additionally, Anwar expressed gratitude for the support from Bahrain and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which facilitated the return of the F1 race to Sepang for the first time since 2017. He also acknowledged the close cooperation from Bahrain International Circuit, Sepang International Circuit, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which allowed for timely race preparations. He wished for a smooth and memorable race weekend for the Bahraini delegation, participating teams, drivers, and visitors.
