Malaysian Financial Institutions Offer Support to Flood-Affected Families

Accra:Financial service providers are prepared to offer relief and support to Malaysian families impacted by the recent floods along the Nepal-China border, complying with legal and regulatory guidelines, according to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, BNM indicated that these measures could include deferring repayments, waiving fees and charges, and offering flexibility in documentation requirements while awaiting the completion of necessary legal processes.

BNM also stated that financial institutions might prioritize processing policy or certificate statuses, expedite insurance and takaful claim payments, and provide other support tailored to the families' specific needs. The central bank advised the next of kin of affected Malaysians to contact the relevant financial institutions for assistance.

Furthermore, BNM will collaborate closely with financial institutions to ensure timely support is provided to those affected by the floods.
