Malaysia and Indonesia Set to Enhance Cooperation in Defence Sector

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia and Indonesia have reached an agreement to strengthen their cooperation in several sectors, with a particular focus on defence, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized the importance of leveraging Indonesia's extensive experience in the defence sector, highlighting Malaysia's willingness to explore potential areas of collaboration.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar expressed that Malaysia is keen to learn from Indonesia, valuing the potential benefits of collaboration over simply acquiring defence capabilities from other countries. He stressed that such cooperation would be grounded in mutual understanding, closeness, confidence, and trust between the leadership teams of both nations.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers, signaling a commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through enhanced defence cooperation.
