Seoul: Malaysia and New Zealand will explore investment and cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy transition and climate change. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, stated that Malaysia and New Zealand have agreed to explore cooperation in the energy sector, particularly geothermal energy. Fadillah met his counterpart, New Zealand's Minister of Climate Change and Minister for Energy, Simon Watts, today to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two nations. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah is currently on an official working visit to South Korea, which will continue until August 29, in conjunction with the 15th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Ministers Meeting (EMM). In addition to discussions with New Zealand, Fadillah also held meetings with Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Siow Huang. Discussions with Singapore focused on strengthening the AS EAN Power Grid by expanding connectivity networks in the ASEAN region. APEC EMM15 is a ministerial-level meeting under the APEC framework and follows the previous session held in Lima, Peru, last year. The meeting's main agendas include discussions on policies and initiatives in the energy sector, as well as efforts to promote cooperation and investment among APEC economies. This edition is hosted by South Korea, with the theme 'Accelerating Sustainable, Affordable, Reliable, Secure and Innovative Energy for a Prosperous Future.' The outcomes of the meeting will be finalized through a Joint Ministerial Statement of the APEC Energy Ministers.
