Malaysia: Malaysia is coordinating the delivery of aid to Nepal following the devastating floods in the country, including the possibility of deploying the Malaysian Special Search and Rescue Team (SMART), said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister stated that the National Security Council (MKN) is in close contact with the Nepalese government to determine the appropriate form of assistance, whether financial aid or the deployment of rescue personnel.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar Ibrahim mentioned that MKN is assessing whether to send the SMART team or provide aid, with a decision pending. He shared this information with reporters after attending Friday prayers at Masjid Sembilang. Anwar highlighted that several countries, including India, China, and Bangladesh, have also extended help following the disaster, which he noted occurred on an unprecedented scale.

The Foreign Ministry is working to obtain the latest list of Malaysians in the affected areas, as efforts to ascertain their status continue. Anwar urged families of Malaysians in the affected zones to contact the Foreign Ministry through the provided channels to facilitate efforts to obtain the latest information.

Yesterday, Anwar directed all relevant departments, including MKN and the Foreign Ministry, to immediately identify and contact Malaysians affected by the disaster. Earlier statements from the Foreign Ministry indicated that 57 Malaysians remained uncontactable following the floods at the Nepal-Tibet border areas. This figure is based on reports from family members, friends, and employers as of 11 pm on August 27.
