Temenggor, Bersia Power Stations Unaffected By Weak Earthquake: Nizar

Temenggor: All power generation units at the Sungai Perak Power Stations (SSJ) in Temenggor and Bersia are in good condition and operating normally despite tremors felt early this morning. Perak Infrastructure, Energy, Water, and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin confirmed that inspections were carried out to ensure the integrity of the facilities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the SSJ Sungai Perak management instructed its security team and the station civil division to inspect the dams and the premises. These inspections verified that both the dams and stations were unaffected by the tremors.

"Initial reports confirm that all our generation units in Temenggor and Bersia are in good condition, unaffected by the tremors, and operating as normal," Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin stated in a statement tonight.

A minor earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale occurred in Temenggor, Gerik, at midnight. Residents in nearby areas, including Kampung Bagan Baru, Kampung Jong, and Kampung Jagor, reported feeling the tremors.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) indicated in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 12.06 am at coordinates 5.5 degrees North and 101.3 degrees East. The epicentre was located nine kilometres northeast of Hulu Perak at a depth of 10 kilometres.
