Malaysia Day: Call For Renewed Commitment To Unity And Inclusivity

Kuantan: On this Malaysia Day, all people are called upon to move forward with renewed commitment to a Malaysia that is united, inclusive, and balanced, where no region or community is left behind. Alliance for a Safe Community chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said Malaysia's future will be brighter if Malaysians continue to strengthen trust between regions, bridge development gaps, and uphold justice for all citizens.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan Sri Lee emphasized that the promise of Malaysia is not only in its economic progress, but also in the values of moderation, mutual respect, and unity that bind the nation as one people. On this Malaysia Day, the historic moment in 1963 when Sabah and Sarawak joined with Malaya to form Malaysia is commemorated-a union built on trust, mutual respect, and shared aspirations.

He noted that more than six decades on, Malaysia's strength continues to lie in its diversity. Lee stated that Malaysia's unity as a nation is not uniformity, but the coming together of different cultures, traditions, and identities bound by one common destiny. As Malaysia celebrates, there is a call to reaffirm the spirit of partnership that formed the Federation, emphasizing that true unity requires regional integration that is fair and inclusive. Balanced development must be the cornerstone of progress, ensuring that Sabah and Sarawak are never left behind.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the nation's wealth and opportunities must be shared equitably so that every Malaysian, from Johor to Sabah and from Perlis to Sarawak, can prosper together. Malaysia Day 2025, themed 'Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni', will be held tomorrow at the PICCA Convention CentreArena Butterworth, Penang, featuring a variety of activities.
