KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has introduced a new Tax Identification Number (TIN) search service, aimed at streamlining taxation activities under the provisions of the Income Tax Act (ACP) 1967. The service is accessible via the MyTax Portal starting today, aligning with the government's initiatives outlined in Budget 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the IRB has announced that individual taxpayers can utilize the TIN search feature by entering their identity card or passport numbers. For other taxpayer categories, such as businesses, the search can be conducted using the Business Registration Number (BRN) or a company name. The initiative is designed to facilitate the implementation of e-Invoices, offering the TIN search function through both the Mylnvois portal and the Mylnvois Application Programming Interface (API).
The IRB has further clarified that additional information regarding the TIN search function via API can be found through the Mylnvois Software Development Kit (SDK). As part of the efforts to integrate digital identification, the TIN search access is also available on the MyTax portal through MyDigital ID identity verification. The TIN search platform on both the MyTax and Mylnvois portals is designed to return a single matching TIN based on the input information. The IRB emphasized that the use of this function is strictly for purposes outlined under the ITA 1967.
