Kuala lumpur: Malaysia plans to establish Education Malaysia (EM) in Saudi Arabia to coordinate bilateral educational cooperation, including academic programs, scholarships, and student welfare between the two countries. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir announced the initiative, which was discussed during a courtesy call by Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Malaysia, Osamah Dakhel R. Al-Ahmadi.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saudi Arabia has welcomed Malaysia's proposal, and Zambry will be submitting a verbal note to the Saudi government soon. The EM is intended to serve as a central coordinating body for educational initiatives, facilitating student mobility, scholarship implementation, and other collaborative programs between the two nations.
Zambry highlighted the current exchange of students, with thousands of Saudi students studying in Malaysia and a similar number of Malaysians in Saudi Arabia. This exchange underscores the necessity for a structured coordination mechanism to address educational and student welfare matters.
He further explained that EM would be managed under the Malaysian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, ensuring efficient management and effective communication.
